Mimolette

oil on wood, 6x12

Mimolette, original artwork by Mike Geno

From the Cheese Portraits series.

This is one of the most intensely colored cheeses I've found so far. Mimolette is from Normandy, France and has a cheddar-like texture. In order to attempt any translation of the intensity of this cheese's color, I found it necessary to set up the opportunity for the viewer to see the translucent brilliance in this composition. A very smart and beautiful friend commented that "It's very architectural, the Frank Gehry of cheese portraits."

Di Bruno Bros. Label:
"Aged 6 months it develops a sweet, clean finish with a buttery hazelnut flavor that is well-balanced and defined."
