Cabot Clothbound Cheddar

oil on wood, 10x10

Cabot Clothbound Cheddar, original artwork by Mike Geno

From the Cheese Portraits series.

This crumbly terrain of cheese was a challenge to paint due to the fact that it has so much texture, one can get lost in it. It was difficult to see the whole while translating with specificity.

Di Bruno Bros. label:
"Perhaps the best (and certainly the rarest) cheddar in the USA, Best in show at the A.C.S. 2006. Cabot Clothbound has a sweet nutty flavor that brings to mind Reggiano and Gruyere flavors before the idea of cheddar even crosses your mind. A great representation of the way cheddar was made hundreds of years ago"
