Lorenzo

oil on wood, 12x12"

Lorenzo, original artwork by Mike Geno

From the Cheese Portraits series.

The fine folks at Meadowood Farms, in the center of New York state added this to their collection of portraits of award-winning cheeses. "Lorenzo" is an alpine style washed rind sheep milk, raclette-like cheese that doesn't get too stinky but has an enormously good flavor. The wheels are washed with local cider from nearby from the Critz farm and aged for four months.

The line patterned rind was a fun challenge that I only managed to completed because I had a full wheel sent to me, allowing strength to be maintained from snacking on this cheese the entire time!
