This is the first place champ at the World Championship Cheese Contest, for the second time! Gourmino's Michael Spycher's superb cheesemaking skills beat out 3,667 entries from 27 countries to finish as the absolute winner with a score of 98.81 out of 100.

I was extremely fortunate to have a sizable wedge of this incredible Gruyère sent to me. It's depth of flavor is hard for me (a goof of a painter) to do justice in a worthy description, but there's a very prominent "wow" effect when you taste it. Joe Salonia, who sent me this from Gourmino's description had me ... "oh yeah!". Here's how smart people would say it:
"The taste profile is elegant, structured and balanced with notes of stone fruits, honey baked ham , cashew milk and vanilla cream"; yeah beyond drool-worthy.

Swiss Gruyère is a luxury we all need to indulge in more often, especially in times of restraint. The local farms deliver the milk from cows they know by name, that graze on sun-dried hay in winter and succulent flowering meadows in summer (there's flowers on the label).
It's so good you savor it like it's your last meal.
