Poilane Loaf

oil on wood, 12x12"

Poilane Loaf, original artwork by Mike Geno

There's probably no bread more famous than this loaf from a little bakery located in the Latin Quarter of Paris with a tiny storefront with a wood fired oven in the basement. The signature loaf is made of 4 ingredients: sourdough, stoneground wheat flour, water and sea salt from Guérande. It is a round loaf with a thick, golden crust as it is cooked in a wood-burning oven. It carries the signature mark P for Poilâne.

Each loaf weighs about 4lbs.

This monumental bread was shipped to me in Philadelphia by a generous patron with a heart dedicated to friends, family and food.
