Purple Rain Donut

Purple Rain Donut, original artwork by Mike Geno

From the Donut series.

I had my eye on this donut a while back, as it was created to honor the artist Prince after his untimely passing. I've always been a huge Prince fan, but the sparkly purple donut was seductive regardless and I NEEDED to get me some!

It's made by my favorite local Philly donut dealer, Federal Donuts, and they brought it back for National Donut Day which coincided on Prince's birthday, June 7th..

I'm happy to say that this was an absolutely delicious vanilla-lavender donut. It didnt taste "purple", for which I'm grateful, but it sure was perfectly tasty and fluffy and ..... simply divine.

Chef Matt Fein has always had a great aesthetic eye when it comes to designing their sexy "fancy" line of donuts, but really I am so impressed with how the donuts get more delicious every year. (happy donut breath sigh)
