Potato Chips
oil on wood, 10x10"
From the Foodie series.
Potatoes are among my most loved, treasured, savored indulgences. Potato chips, like fries, are my biggest weakness. I cannot NOT order some of these home made (diner made?) potato chips when I worship my weekly "Burger Night" ritual via Sulimay's in Fishtown. This local diner- (restaurant ? shrug) not only makes great food but it does so without any pretension and... minimal chef ego. Chad the chef pretends he doesn't wear a monocle at the grill but once you meet him, you know better.
Most importantly, this diner that is elevating diner-priced food to foodie fantasy levels also happens to spend a lot of time, energy and resources to help feed the hungry in the community, and for free. So when I order fries with my (essential) burgers, I also like to get a couple orders of these deliciously spiced chips to help throw some good karma on the bill. Essentially I like to believe my eating potato chips helps feed others.
