Raincoast Crisps

oil on wood, 9x12"

Raincoast Crisps, original artwork by Mike Geno

This commission was a fun challenge. I have a patron that wanted the perfect accoutrement to go with their cheese portraits. They were kind enough to send me a box of Lesley Stowe, cranberry and hazelnut crackers that come from Vancouver, Canada. Apparently this successful line of gourmet crackers is the brain child of a genius Stowe, a true culinary innovator.

These crisps are more than just hazelnuts and cranberries, but they're chock full of seeds too. I loved painting them as they're like complicated grain filled mini slices of bread that would easily fit in the palm of your hand. While I know I have had some of these before, I hadn't realized how great they are, especially with a buttery smooth soft cheese! They're so good!
