Berkswell sheep's milk cheese is hand made at Ram Hall Farm, situated on the edge of Berkswell village, close to Coventry in England. It's shaped like a flying saucer due to the shape of the basket mould in which it is made. It's unusual pointed shape is part of why I chose to paint it. Having a thin wedge though, It seemed most interesting to have it balanced on one of it's rounded sides, standing asymmetrically and creating a diagonal on this small square surface. As I painted it, it warmed and flaked more and more, similar to a gouda.
