Stuffed Donut
oil on wood, 12x12"
I love my neighborhood supermarket. It's an old "Thriftway" - now "IGA", mid-sized neighborhood market in Fishtown, Philadelphia. It's not a super, mega-sized, state of the art store; it's nice and down to earth.
The bakery has the usual guilty pleasures that are not gourmet but beautifully seductive to my eye. While shopping I did a double take when I spotted these whipped cream stuffed donuts. I'm not sure what they are called but I think the super friendly staff might have called them "Sammies". To me they are beautiful and damn fun to paint.
