Two of my favorite bakery items are butter cake and donuts and the new bakery in my neighborhood, Beehive Bakeshop, in Fishtown, happened to find a way to combine them! I was happy to stop by the shop on my way to the studio and pick up a model for a happy painting day. Naturally I took a beautiful sunny subject that has a tortuous smattering of powdered sugar on top; WHAT WAS I THINKING?! It was fun to paint, regardless.

Most importantly this cake-y donut had such a perfect hint of buttenrcake with the crusty icing covering and the milky-buttery flavor of the cake, it was glorious to eat after staring at it all day. I'll be back for more! Thanks Beehive!
