Grand Cru Gruyere
oil on wood, 10x10"
Best of Show 3rd Place, 2012 from Emmi Roth USA
The challenge was to not exaggerate the yellow color as Gruyere is not anywhere as colorful as it is flavorful. This wedge smelled sweet and tempting during the entire process of painting it's portrait! I couldnt wait to get to the finish point so I could eat a third of this wedge as my lunch. Apparently Gruyere goes nicely with strong dark roast coffee.
This painting was commissioned by the American Cheese Society (ASC).
