I am fortunate to have so many great bakeries in Philly and one of my favorites is Merzbacher's. I've been a fan of Pete Merzbacher's baguettes and muffins and just as I was looking for a sourdough model to paint a bit bigger, he announced that he's just started offering this beauty.

As its just being released, I got to spend the day with this delicious loaf. Pete describes it as reasonably priced "naturally leavened loaf for everyday enjoyment. It features a mild sourdough taste, a crust that's just the right amount of crispy, and a tender and airy core. Crafted with locally sourced flour from Snavely's in Lititz and fermented for 24 hours"

It was a long long day but it was so much fun to paint, I didn't even realize I went around ten hours without eating !!!! (that never happens).
