Tomato Pie

I was commissioned to paint one of my favorite foods that I hadn't gotten around to painting yet, by a Philly expat that's now on the west coast. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to focus on one of my favorites in town, and happens to be in my neighborhood, by Liberty Kitchen, in fishtown.
My friend and cheese & food monk, Matt Buddenstein (aka Matt Buddah) is co-owner of Liberty Kitchen and they make one of the best "og" tomato pies in town. It's one that holds up to all the classics. It's amazing focaccia, beautiful tomato sauce with just the right amount of zing , topped only with a pinch of oregano. Sometimes simple is good, in this case, it's GREAT.
